Auctioneers Commission

The Georgia Auctioneers Commission is a board appointed by the Governor and administered by the Secretary of State whose purpose is to license the auctioneers and police the activities of the profession in the state of Georgia.

The Auctioneers Commission lobbied for and secured passage of legislation in 1991 that requires continuing education for all licensed auctioneers. This effort was supported by the Georgia Auctioneers Association. The legislation stipulates that during each license cycle (2 years) one must complete 8 hours of education and furnish proof thereof to the Auctioneers Commission in order to have licenses renewed. All educational programs eligible for credit hours must have prior approval of the Auctioneers Commission.

Membership in the Georgia Auctioneers Association is not required in order to be licensed by the Georgia Auctioneers Commission, however, licensure by the commission is required in order to be a member
of the association.

The Georgia Auctioneers Commission is located at 237 Coliseum Drive, Macon, Georgia 31217-3858. The Commission Office can be reached at (478) 207-2440. Contact the Commission office for any questions relating to licensure and fees for licensure.
