Congratulations to Amy Martin, 2014 Georgia Auctioneer Bid Calling Champion who was featured in the Atlanta Journal’s Sunday Conversation on Sunday, February 9, 2014. Ms. Martin is a member of the Georgia Auctioneers Association and volunteers on the Board of Directors.
Competition was fierce at Georgia Auctioneers Association 2014 Winter Conference where the bid contest was held on January 25th at Lake Blackshear Resort. Scoring criteria included individual interviews with the judging panel, evaluation of properly communicating information and of course a score was given to each auctioneers chant. The quick rhythmic chant is also known as the auction cry whereas the auctioneer repeats the current monetary bid while soliciting the next bid increment. One of the most entertaining features of the chant is the filler words used to create a spoken song notorious for maintaining the attention of engaged bidders.
