The Georgia Auctioneer Association’s 2012 Winter Conference was a great success with approximately 60 Auctioneer’s in attendance. The event was held at a new venue, Lake Blackshear Resort that offered nice scenic views of the lake and property. The GA Auctioneer Conference schedule was packed full of diverse events beginning with a Public Auction to benefit our association and participating non-profit communities and groups. GAA officers suggested a new format for the public auction, which produced strong returns and will be incorporated into future auction fundraisers. During the auction contestants of the 2012 Georgia Auctioneers Association Bid Calling Competition had an opportunity to shine, demonstrating quality Auctioneer skills to sell many of the lots offered while competing for the much desired title and Georgia’s 2012 Big Peach Classic Trophy and honors. Congratulations to Scott Roberts who was named the Grand Champion, Steve Mathis took home the second place honors and Myers Jackson finished with third place.

Auctioneer Education provided a plethora of fresh information to help our members hone their skills and better serve their Georgia Auction Businesses, sellers and buyers. Education is a key component to all of our gatherings and we were pleased to see members networking, learning and sharing information in open forums.

A highlight of this year’s conference was a casual Barbeque with friends and counterparts filled with plenty of good food and entertainment. Thanks again to John & Drew Dixon for sharing there fabulous BBQ and all those who helped. It was fun to cook, visit and dance with friends. For those of you not in attendance, you missed Buddy Lee’s performance with the band.

In closing we look forward to returning to Lake Blackshear Resort again! Georgia Auctioneer Association’s officers are presently planning our 2012 Georgia Auctioneers Association Summer Event. Information will be posted soon. Thanks everyone for your support and your feedback is always appreciated. Check out our Facebook Page for More Photos & Galleries from this Event!
