Georgia Auctioneer License Renewal Information

Dear Fellow Auctioneers,
As a reminder, all Georgia Auctioneer Licenses will expire Feb. 28, 2012. A change in Georgia law will take effect Jan. 1, 2012, requiring new and existing applicants to submit additional documentation proving their citizenship after that date. The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office is encouraging existing licensees to renew their licenses prior to Dec. 31, 2011, to avoid expected delays with the new requirements. In particular, they recommend renewing online at the website below.
Keep in mind, a licensee cannot legally practice after their license has expired, even if they submitted their renewal prior to the expiration date but that renewal has been delayed. We encourage all auctioneers to renew as soon as possible. Please see the note below from the Licensing Board for more information.

Amendments to O.C.G.A. § 50-36-1 become effective January 1, 2012. After December 31, 2011, Georgia law will require all applicants for licensure, and all those applying for renewal of an existing license to submit secure and verifiable documentation with their application that will be reviewed by the Board. A list of the approved Secure and Verifiable Documents may be found on the Professional Licensing Board’s webpage. Submit their renewal applications early to expedite their renewals!

- Visit the Georgia Online Licensing site at www.sos.ga.gov/plb (Free internet access is available at every Georgia Public Library)
- Click on the License Renewal link to begin the renewal process.

- Update address, phone number, e-mail address and answer the renewal questions.
- Pay renewal fee(s) using a American Express, Mastercard, or Visa on our secure server.
- Print the receipt of payment.
- Verify the renewal online by the end of the next business day.
- Receive the renewed license in the mail.
If you choose not to renew online and would like to request a renewal form that will be mailed to your address on file with board, please call (404)463-1100. Please note that renewing by mail may take up to 4 weeks to process after the completed renewal form is received. A licensee cannot practice after their license expiration date. AVOID ADDITIONAL DELAY & LATE FEES BY RENEWING NOW!

Wayne Evans – GAA Hall of Fame Member Passes
December 3, 2011
Richard Wayne Evans passed away Wednesday, November 30th, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, Georgia after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
The Georgia Auctioneers Association sends our deepest sympathies to the Evans Family. Wayne was a good man and fine auctioneer. He will be greatly missed by all the members of the Georgia Auctioneers Association where his memory will continue to live on as a treasured GAA Hall of Fame member.
Wayne’s adult life was devoted to his family, the auction business and to charity. Wayne served on the Board of Directors of the National Auctioneers Association, he was President, Vice President, and Secretary Treasurer of The Georgia Auctioneers Association. He was voted “Bid Caller Champion” of Georgia and received his highest honor when he was the first living Auctioneer to be inducted into the Georgia Auctioneers Hall of Fame. He attended Jordan High School, Missouri Auction School and received his Certified Auctioneers Institute designation from the University of Indiana.
For many years, Wayne Evans Auction Company has been recognized as one of the leading auction companies in the southeast. Wayne held various auctions for the City of Columbus for many years.
Wayne gladly donated his auctioneer talents to endless fundraising and charity events such as “Feed The Hungry”, The Heart Association, Ducks Unlimited, Riflemen’s Association, The Columbus Cottonmouths jersey auctions and many school fundraisers.
Wayne was the most loving, kind and generous of men. He always reached out to help family, friends and anyone in need. He will be forever missed by those whose lives he touched.
