Message From New Georgia Auctioneers Association President

As the incoming President for 2012-3013 year I want to personally thank everyone for attending GAA’s Summer Conference in Tybee Island, GA. Your attendance and support has once again helped the Georgia Auctioneers Association grow with enthusiasm. The past few years have been challenging in tough economic conditions, however the esprit de corps among Auctioneers is over powering. As we all shook hands leaving this years conference it was evident Auctioneers have the motivation to persevere in challenging environments with minimal resources. The strength we all have with the power of our voice is measured in multiple ways and as we market and

sell items by the live out crying sound in our bid chant or in a written statement and online bidding to the local presence under the tent, in the ballrom or with our signs points toward another auction event. Let’s remember to talk to our legislators about standing up to protect our rich heritage preserving our commitment to communies all over Georgia. Let’s all make our voice know by encouraging new auctioneers to attend conference and taking a moment to speak with aspiring individuals that want to become a auctioneer. Let’s cry loud with spirited determination and our voice shall remain strong and with a unified presence so we all can continue to prosper.

If you missed this year’s summer conference please join us and plan to attend the Winter Conference at Lake Blackshear in January of 2013. Due to the success of last years public auction we are now planning the 2nd annual Community Fun Auction in addition to our annual Bid Calling Championships. There will be continuing education classes mixed with networking opportunities.

As we move toward our next event please be mindful of the tools and information the association provides through the GAA website at GeorgiaAuctioneers.org and become involved with the functions and networking opportunities.

Ladies and Gentlemen I encourage each one of you to attend and invite someone to our next conference. Make a telephone call or message someone that you have not seen in a while and ask him or her to meet you in January and rekindle old times while learning new trends.

Congratulations to the newest Hall of Fame Inductees Ray Dempsey & Lou Dempsey, and each one that was installed as an Office or Director and a special thanks for your support by electing me the President of the Georgia Auctioneers Association. I certainly understand without a doubt the current Officers, Directors and Members are in focus and have accepted the challenges to improve as we grow built on the foundation of our past success.

Respectfully,
Myers Jackson CAI, AARE, CES
